- What do A, B, D and X coding mean?
- Coding refers to the keyed insert that defines a connector's role and prevents mismatching. A-coding is for sensors, actuators and DC power; B-coding for PROFIBUS fieldbus; D-coding for 100 Mbit industrial Ethernet (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP); X-coding for 10 Gbit Ethernet and EtherCAT.M12 connector types
- What is the difference between IP67, IP68 and IP69K?
- All three are dust-tight. IP67 withstands temporary immersion (up to 1 m for 30 minutes), IP68 covers continuous or deeper immersion, and IP69K resists high-pressure, high-temperature washdown. Many M12 products carry IP67, IP68 and IP69K together.IP rating guide
- How many pins do M12 connectors have?
- M12 connectors come in 3, 4, 5, 8, 12 and 17 pins. A-coding spans the full range, while data codings are fixed by their protocol — D-coding is 4-pin and X-coding is 8-pin, for example.M12 connector types
- How do I read an M12 pinout, and what is the difference between male and female?

- Can different codings be plugged together?
- No. Each coding uses a different keyed insert specifically so that incompatible connectors cannot be mated — for example, a PROFIBUS B-coded cable physically will not fit an A-coded sensor port. This protects equipment from wiring errors.
- How do I choose the right M12 connector?

- How does M12 compare to M8 and M23?
